The
handle for metal detectors might very well be the one part of the metal
detector that has the least amount of attention paid to it. While this
is understandable in some respects, the fact is that the handle should
not be overlooked because it is a vital part of the overall detector.
Before the handle for metal detectors are discussed, perhaps it would
be a good idea to go over the other parts of the detector.
• Shaft – The shaft of the metal detector is most often
made from aluminum or some other similar type of metal. It is made to
be lightweight so that the person using the detector is not weighed
down by the device. Usually the shaft does not include any kinds of
buttons or features, but you can sometimes buy detectors that have shafts
that are made up of different colors or other things like that.
• Top – In this case the top is actually the bottom. This
is what the actual scanner part of the device is called. These tops
are built to last as well, but you still need to be sensitive with them
when you use them. Many of these are water resistant. This means that
you can use them along the beach or in a couple of inches of water.
But if you plan on immersing the detector in water, you better make
sure that you have a completely waterproof device. If you do not you
could be in serious trouble and may need to make an emergency purchase
soon after.
• Handles – Like was mentioned earlier, these handles play
an extremely important part in providing comfort and stability for the
user. Finding a handle that has foam padding on it is always a good
idea. One reason is because it creates extra padding. The other reason
is that the padding does not get as hot or as cold as the metal so you
will not freeze or burn yourself.
Now that you understand that the handle for metal detectors is a vital
part of the overall device, remember to choose carefully for comfort
as well as stability.
