About Tom – I started Handheld Metal Detectors because of my keen interest in this ever popular hobby.
Since I was a child, I have been watching a lot of videos and reading up on everything to do with metal detection. This is how I gave myself the best chance of unearthing some hidden treasure!
I had my first metal detector when I was 10 years old, and I have never looked back!
At that time, I was immediately blown away by the technology, along with the excitement and endless possibilities of what I unearth.
My parents encouraged me to be out as much as possible treasure hunting. I guess it was their way of getting me out in the fresh air and away from the distractions of video games.

My parents would enjoy seeing the treasures that I would come back with, sometimes utter tat, other times with items which still to this day sit on display in my home.
